Ironman Switzerland 2006

The 3.8km swim in the crystal clear water, which is of drinking water quality, features a unique Australian exit over a small island. After that, the spectacular bike course leads through the city center along the lake shore out of town. 30km later on the bike you wouldn’t think there was a city even close by. The next hour you ride along grazing lands, small villages and the rolling countryside of Zurich. The two climbs, "The Beast" and "Heartbreak Hill," are lined with spectators cheering and ringing the typical cow bells. The newly designed multifaceted four-loop run course takes you through downtown Zurich. You will run down the world-famous Bahnhofstrasse and through beautiful alleys. After passing the town's landmarks and the historic buildings you will reach the shores of Lake Zurich. IRONMAN Switzerland offers 40 qualifying slots for the 2016 IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, HI.
